ABOUT KATE
"For me it’s a passion, I take great pride and care in knowing what I do helps horses, dogs and humans each day to lead a happier, healthier and more comfortable life." Kate Cox Kate has been working with animals for years and initially gained invaluable practical experience with horses and dogs, working at Chine House Vets in Leicestershire part time alongside studying. Kate went on to secure a BSc (Hons) degree in Equine Sports Science at DeMontfort University in Lincoln, and after graduating in 2002 started lecturing in Animal Science for Brooksby Melton College in Leicestershire. As a lecturer Kate covered topics such as Anatomy, Physiology and Rehabilitation, and went on to achieved her Post Graduate Diploma in Education. After completing certificates in Canine and Equine Massage Kate embarked on the two year Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Manipulation at the McTimoney College - currently the only validated course in Europe teaching techniques for adjusting animals. After graduating in 2006 Kate has been treating mainly horses and dogs ever since. Kate is also a tutor for the McTimoney College and has held the position for the past three years. The McTimoney Animal Association (MAA) is the Governing Body for McTimoney Animal Manipulators. The MAA is responsible for setting professional standards for its members and for maintaining a professional code of ethics. As a member of the MAA, Kate carries full indemnity insurance and is required to maintain her level of expertise by undertaking continuing professional development on a regular basis. In 2010 Kate completed a Diploma in Remedial Massage at the Midlands School of Massage and has been treating humans with massage therapy since that time. It is important to ensure that both humans and horses work in harmony together, so Kate often treats horses and their human partners together to get the best results. Kate still lectures Anatomy and Physiology at Brooksby Melton College alongside running her own business. Kate works closely with Veterinarians, Equine Dental Technicians, Farriers, Saddlers and other therapists. Kate believes in practitioners working together to get the best results, so is happy to refer to fellow reputable professionals where necessary.
